This is the walk I recommend to every single visitor staying in our holiday rentals in Moraira. Start at the Castillo de Moraira — the 18th-century watchtower that lords over the town — and head south along the rocky headland path toward Cap d'Or (also called Cap d'Àguiles). The views along this stretch are absurd: the turquoise coves of El Portet below, the Peñón d'Ifach at Calpe in the distance, and on a clear September morning, you can see all the way to Ibiza.
The path hugs the cliff edge and is well-maintained but does involve some uneven rocky sections — proper footwear beats flip flops here. At the lighthouse itself, pause for ten minutes. I've seen dolphins from this exact spot. Return via the same path or loop back through the town centre, stopping at one of the terraces on Calle Diputación for a cold clara (beer and lemon — the unofficial post-walk drink of Moraira).

2. El Portet to Cala del Advocat Hidden Cove Trail

One of Moraira's best-kept secrets. From the north end of Playa El Portet (my personal favourite beach in the area — calm, sheltered, postcard-perfect), follow the coastal path northward. The trail winds past private villa gardens draped in bougainvillea before descending to Cala del Advocat, a tiny pebble cove with gin-clear water that rarely appears on tourist maps.
In September this walk is magical — the crowds are gone, the water temperature sits around 26°C, and there's something deeply satisfying about a swim in a cove you've actually earned. Bring water and wear shoes you don't mind getting wet.

3. Teulada-Moraira Countryside Walk: Vineyards & Villages
Distance: 8 km loop | Difficulty: Moderate | Time: 2.5–3 hours
For something completely different from the coastal routes, this inland walk connects Moraira town with its municipal partner Teulada through a landscape of Moscatel vineyards, almond groves, and old stone farmhouses (masías). September is harvest season here — you'll see workers bringing in the famous Moscatel grapes that produce the local sweet wine, and if you're friendly (and you should be), sometimes you'll be waved over for a taste.
The route starts at the Moraira market square, climbs gently through the urbanisation of Benimeit, then follows agricultural tracks through open countryside before arriving in Teulada — a proper inland Spanish village largely untouched by tourism, with a 16th-century church and a couple of no-nonsense local bars. Return by bus (line 23, very infrequent — check schedules) or arrange a taxi back.
Tip: The Teulada market runs on Tuesdays and is well worth building into this walk.

4. La Llorença Nature Walk: Moraira's Green Lung

Less known than the coastal paths, the La Llorença area to the northwest of Moraira town offers shaded walking through pine forest and scrubland — rare and genuinely lovely on a warm September afternoon when you want to be in the shade. The paths are wide and flat, making this a good option for families or anyone wanting a gentle leg-stretch rather than a workout.
Look out for Aleppo pines, wild lavender, and — if you're lucky and quiet — the occasional red squirrel. There are picnic benches at the main entrance area off the CV-746 road.

5. Cap d'Or to Les Platgetes de Moraira: The Long Coastal Traverse
Distance: 7 km one way | Difficulty: Moderate | Time: 2–2.5 hours
For experienced walkers wanting a proper half-day out, this route follows the entire Moraira coastline from Cap d'Or lighthouse in the south all the way to the series of small beaches known as Les Platgetes in the north — passing Playa El Portet, Playa La Ampolla, and several unnamed coves along the way. The path isn't always obvious and involves some scrambling over rocks between sections, which is half the fun.
I'd recommend doing this walk in the morning (start by 8am in September), finishing at Les Platgetes for a swim and lunch at one of the chiringuitos before catching a taxi or walking back along the road. Take 1.5 litres of water minimum.
