Benidorm for couples? I can already hear the sceptics. "Isn't it all stag dos and all-inclusive buffet queues?" Well, after ten years living on the Costa Blanca, I can tell you that's only half the story — and honestly, not the most interesting half. Behind the famous skyline and the buzzing Levante strip, there's a surprisingly romantic side to this city that couples keep discovering and coming back for, summer after summer.
June is arguably the best month to experience it. The sea is already a bath-warm 24°C, the evenings are long and golden, and the crowds haven't yet hit August levels. If you're planning a couples' getaway right now, you've timed it perfectly.
Here's where to go, what to do, and how to make the most of Benidorm as a couple in 2026.

Sunset at the Balcón del Mediterráneo: The Most Romantic Spot in Benidorm
If you only do one thing together in Benidorm, make it this. The Balcón del Mediterráneo sits at the tip of the old town headland, with 270-degree views across both Levante and Poniente beaches, the island of L'Illa de Benidorm shimmering in the distance, and the Sierra Helada turning amber as the sun drops. I've watched this sunset well over a hundred times. It still stops me in my tracks.
Arrive about 45 minutes before sunset (check the time — in June it's around 9:30pm), grab a spot on the benches, or better still, pick up a chilled bottle of cava from the nearby Mercadona and sit on the wall like the locals do. It costs you nothing and beats any rooftop bar in the city.

A Morning in the Casco Antiguo: Coffee, Cats & Cobblestones
The Old Town (Casco Antiguo) is Benidorm's most underrated neighbourhood, and in the morning it belongs entirely to couples and retirees. Wander the blue-and-white tiled streets, peek into the 18th-century Church of San Jaime and Santa Ana, and settle into a terrace table at one of the small cafés on Plaza del Patriarca.
There are actual resident cats here — a small colony that locals feed and look after. It sounds ridiculous, but sitting in a quiet medieval square with coffee, a tostada con tomate, and a cat on your lap is genuinely one of the most peaceful experiences Benidorm offers.
For something slightly more special, Restaurante La Cava Aragonesa on Carrer de la Senyoria does a superb pintxos spread from around noon — perfect for a lazy late breakfast that turns into lunch.

Hire a Boat to L'Illa de Benidorm
The island you can see from the beach isn't just a postcard backdrop — you can actually go there, and it's one of the best things to do as a couple in Benidorm. Boats leave from the port (Puerto de Benidorm) roughly every hour during summer, and the 15-minute crossing costs about €15 return per person.
Once on the island, there's a small beach, crystal-clear snorkelling water, and a restaurant (yes, there's actually a restaurant — El Rancho de la Isla — serving grilled fish and seafood). Pack your snorkel, order a cold beer, and spend three or four hours pretending the rest of the world doesn't exist.
Alternatively, hire a small motorboat from the port (no licence needed for boats under 5HP) and explore the coastline at your own pace. There are sea caves along the base of the Sierra Helada cliffs that you simply cannot reach from the shore.

Dinner in Benidorm: Where to Go for a Proper Date Night
Skip the strip for date night. Here's where couples actually eat well:
L'Oliveret (Carrer Metge Orts) is a small, intimate Valencian restaurant that does the most honest arroz a banda I've tasted outside of a fishing village. Book ahead — it only has about ten tables and fills up fast in June.
Tiffany's Restaurant (Avenida del Mediterráneo) has been a Benidorm institution since 1970 and feels it — in the best possible way. White tablecloths, live music some evenings, classic European cooking done with real care. It's the kind of place that makes you slow down.
The China Garden might raise an eyebrow, but hear me out: it's one of the longest-running restaurants in the city, tucked into a surprisingly quiet street in the old town, and the rooftop terrace at night, with views down to the sea, is genuinely lovely.
For a pre-dinner drink with atmosphere, the cocktail bar Benidorm Lounge near the old town does excellent gin and tonics with house-made botanicals.

Couples' Wellness: Sunrise Yoga & Spa Days
June's long days make early mornings in Benidorm genuinely beautiful. Several beachfront hotels open their yoga classes to non-guests (check Hotel Bali and Hotel Melia Benidorm), and a beach yoga session at 7am with the sea to yourself is something you'll talk about for years.
For a full spa day, Aqua Natura Spa (part of the Mundomar complex) offers couples' treatment packages including hydrotherapy pools and massage. It's worth booking at least a week in advance in summer.

Day Trip for Two: Altea by Train
One of my favourite things to recommend to couples is the TRAM train to Altea. It's 20 minutes from Benidorm station, costs a few euros each way, and deposits you in what might be the prettiest white hilltop village on the entire Costa Blanca. Wander up through the bougainvillea-draped lanes to the iconic blue-domed church, have a long lunch at one of the terrace restaurants overlooking the bay, and be back in Benidorm for sunset.
Altea's galleries and artisan shops are perfect for picking up something genuinely memorable — handmade ceramics, local jewellery, olive wood pieces.

Where to Stay: Skip the Hotels, Book a Private Apartment
For couples, a self-catering apartment makes far more sense than a hotel room. You get your own kitchen (great for picking up local produce at the market and cooking in), your own terrace or balcony, more space, and crucially — privacy.

Practical Tips for Couples Visiting Benidorm in June
- Best time to walk the Poniente promenade: early morning (7–9am) or after 8pm — the light is incredible and it's quiet
- Levante vs Poniente for couples: Poniente is calmer, less crowded, better for a romantic beach day; Levante is livelier if you want people-watching and more beach bars
- June temperatures: highs of 28–30°C, evenings around 22°C — ideal for outdoor dining
- Getting around: Benidorm is walkable for most things; taxi to the port costs around €5 from the centre
- Book restaurants ahead: June is busy enough that the good smaller restaurants fill up, especially on weekends
Benidorm surprises couples every time. Come with an open mind, pick the right neighbourhood to base yourself in, and you'll leave wondering why it took you so long to give it a proper chance.
